Ingredients Required for Preparing Dhokla

  • 200 gms gram flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 200 gms sour curd
  • 1 tbsp pil
  • 1 pc ginger
  • 3 nos green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp sodabicarbonate
  • salt to taste
  • a pinch to heeng

Method For Preparing Dhokla

  1. Mix well the gram flour ,salt and curd and leave aside it for six-eight hours(overnight).
  2. Grind the ginger and green chilles to a paste and add to the mixture.
  3. Add the soda bicarbonate and sugar,beat well till it is light and frothy.
  4. Pour spoonfuls of the batter into the greased idli moulds.
  5. Pour 200ml water in the idli cooker at the bottom.
  6. Put the idli cooker on the stove (slow) for 15 minutes.
  7. Then allow the idli stand to cool and then cut them into cubes(dhoklas).
  8. Heat oil in pan, add mustard and curry patta to it.
  9. Pour this over the dhoklas and serve.
